Public Consultation on the Future of the Ottawa Chamber of Voluntary Organizations

Greetings …

For the past ten years, the Ottawa Chamber of Voluntary Organizations (OCVO) has supported voluntary sector organizations by:

• Developing programs and activities that contribute to the vibrancy, growth and awareness of the non-profit sector;
• Providing networking opportunities;
• Enabling opportunities to collaborate;
• Nurturing, fostering and incubating new ideas and practices in the sector; and
• Advocating for the sector as a whole with governments and decision-makers.

 

Much has changed in those ten years – the voluntary sector has grown and matured, the funding environment has evolved, and new organizations have appeared whose mandates complement and in some cases overlap with OCVO’s.

 

OCVO is re-examining its raison d’être and would like your input.  On June 7th, OCVO is holding a public consultation to determine:

 

·         The requirement/degree of support for a common, independent voice for non-Profits

·         Which of OCVO’s existing offerings are unique and valuable

·         Whether there are critical services that OCVO should provide but currently doesn’t.

 

This consultation is critical to OCVO’s future and we will consider the degree of participation in the event as an important indicator of interest.  We hope you will attend.  Please forward this message to others who might be interested.

Projects

The Canadian Nonprofit Innovators Network (CNPI) brings people and organizations together to develop and share innovative practices in the nonprofit sector.       

The Network does this in three main ways:               
· The*Spark, an interactive website that links people, ideas and tools;        
· an annual forum that brings innovators together to workshop their ideas and learn from each other; and,        
· through the direct support of regional Innovation Nodes that animate innovative ideas and practices in their areas.
